Advice for Parents Who Have Lost Their Job
It may be hard to swallow, even for the most humble of individuals, but life is always so unexpected in every aspect we face. Things break or don’t quite go the way we planned, money can get tight, work can be hard to find, whatever it may be. One of the hardest situations to be in is when you or your partner have lost a job, whether it be your own fault or the fault of the company. This is even more difficult when you have a family that you are providing an income for. The good news for unemployed parents, though, is that everything will always get better.
If you find yourself in the situation of losing your job or work becomes scarce, I know exactly where you are coming from. My family has been through that a few times, and although we are raising two children under the age of 2 and are having to worry about them as well, we always make it to the next day stronger and ready to take on whatever comes our way. Even though are children are so young, I always try to keep all the somewhat negative talk about finances and job opportunities for after bedtime. It is a great time for us to talk and detox about the day, while at the same time, we are keeping that burden away from them. Children have this insane sense of knowing when something is not right, or when you are having a negative energy about yourself. If you focus on keeping the fun in each day with the kids, it allows you to focus your day on the positive in life rather than all of the negative.
Losing a job and then having to start all over again can be a tricky thing to handle, especially when you have a family along with yourself to worry about. It is so key to always keep your thoughts on the positive and be optimistic that things will truly get better. Keep the joy in your life, especially with your children, and remember that this too shall pass.
