What I believe…
I believe that every single day is a gift to enjoy. I believe we are meant to feel great and thrive in our health, relationships, career, education, communities, interests and passion projects. I believe the body, mind & spirit are brilliant and intricately linked for our success, happiness and wellbeing.
I believe we are powerful creators and can create ANYTHING we want. I believe the only reason we suffer is to help us get clear on what we truly desire. And I believe that lasting success comes from choosing to practice simple, yet powerful daily habits that support who we uniquely are physically, emotionally and spiritually.
I didn’t always know these truths…
When I was a young girl, I was very sensitive. I felt everything very deeply, especially fear and love. I was also empathic. I felt everything everyone else felt very deeply… all the time. It was overwhelming! I didn’t know how to process it all.
I was often told that I was too sensitive and that I didn’t need to worry so much. I would have loved to know how to do that!
So, I would sit for hours listening to the adults talk as I searched for those answers. I should have been outside playing with the other kids but I didn’t want to miss it. I suppose everyone just thought I was being nosey. But, I really thought that I was the only one that didn’t know how “not to be so sensitive” and how “not to worry so much.” If that was who I was, how was I supposed to know how to be me? These were big questions for a little kid. At the time, I felt broken and that being sensitive was a curse.
What I know now is that these early experiences were the beginning of a purposeful journey to develop the skills for knowing oneself and knowing how to thrive emotionally.
The other important skills revealed themselves over time ….
All of this emotional intensity created quite the heap of health issues as I grew into a young woman. I suffered with random stomach issues, food allergies, headaches, a bizarre seizure that left me paralyzed for the day, hormone imbalance, and because of all the medications to treat these, depression. I did what I had to do. I went to doctors, took prescriptions, and had too many procedures and surgeries to count. I suffered but what else could I do?
I forged ahead with my natural curiosity and passion for business and enjoyed an exciting, successful corporate career with a Fortune 500 company. I rose within the ranks every few years and had the good fortune of helping build a subsidiary at age 30, but it took it’s toll. I was told I might not be able to have kids unless I got off the road and found something less stressful. What? Ok, it’s what I had to do.
The best news ever…
We were fortunate to have our first son a year later. However, he was born with a digestive condition and had to undergo his first surgery on his second month birthday. This is where the madness stopped. I would be dammed if I was going to let my child suffer as I suffered.
I researched endlessly and took my file to my doctor and said, ” I think I know what’s wrong with us, can you help us heal.” She said “No. It’s not my science. In Eastern medicine, we diagnose and treat symptoms. Healing is another science.” Eureka! I had been treating the symptoms all this time. I needed to focus on the foundational issues. So I did and so the integration began.
I got well through food and lifestyle changes and cured much of what ailed me including some of my food sensitivities. At 36, I had a pear for the first time since I was a kid. It was so delicious! Hence the logo 🙂 And knew what it took to keep our family healthy. How was it that this life changing information wasn’t being shared by doctors? I couldn’t know what I knew and not share it. Remember, I was the kid that just wanted to make sure everyone was safe and happy?.
I went back to school to study nutrition, detoxification and began my formal studies in life coaching and empowerment (although I feel like i’ve been studying them my whole life!). This is when I healed at the foundational level. This is when I began integrating the holistic approach to thriving. We are a system and unless you are addressing the whole, you will always have a missing piece that calls for your attention. I believe I suffered physically and emotionally so that I could become intimate with the skills for thriving and be able to share it with others.
For the past 8 years, I’ve been in private practice as a Certified Holistic Health & Life Design Coach, speaker and Founder of the Ideal Life Method, where I feel honored to help professionals, entrepreneurs and young adults recognize their unique talents, achieve their full potential and create their ideal life of great health, great relationships, happiness, success and the time and freedom to enjoy them all.
I share all this with you because I believe we all are uniquely and purposefully placed here to enjoy life. Who we are matters. We do not need to be less sensitive. We do not need to spend our days worrying. We do not need to be overwhelmed with fear and doubts. We just need the skills to know ourselves, what we truly want and how to integrate it with our brilliant body so that we have the energy and health to live our ideal life with the ones we love.
