We all see things through the ever-evolving lens of our own life’s experiences – our own stories – and it is those stories that make us unique. All our experiences, even the painful ones, make us the persons we are. There are times, however, when we can get stuck, when behaviors that we once needed may no longer be working for us. This is the time to seek out a safe and supportive space in which your stories can be told and understood. This is the time to seek therapy and to start imagining things as you want them to be.
Although there are many self-help approaches, what makes counseling so effective is that you get to sit with another person and tell your story. The very telling can be a healing process in itself. As a therapist, I will listen to your story with compassion and understanding creating that safe and supportive environment you need. Drawing from a variety of modalities, I will support your healing on intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual levels.
I have been fortunate to be immersed in this work that I love for the past 20 years. I have worked with teenagers, individuals, couples and groups. I have trained in Gestalt Psychotherapy, Co-Counseling, Yoga, and EMDR. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Child Psychology, a Masters Degree in Education and a Doctorate in Psychology. I am a Connecticut Licensed Professional Counselor.
So, whether you are looking for extra support for a challenge you are facing or you want to make a major change, I look forward to meeting you, listening to your story, and supporting you in the pursuit and attainment of your goals.
